Instrument Serif is intriguing because it feels old and new at the same time. The condensed width and tall x-height remind us of late 19th-century wood type, but the sharp digital finish places it firmly in 2026.
It is particularly effective for "listicle" style headlines or menu items where you need to fit a lot of character into a narrow column.
The italic version has a lovely forward momentum that feels energetic without being chaotic. A great alternative to the overused Times New Roman.
